The meeting took place on the 21st of January 2019 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre , Valletta. Hosting the event was the MCAST team.
Dr Ing. Rizzo gave a brief introduction into the outcomes expected by the end of the meeting and was joined by Prof Ing. Grech who went through the detailed agenda.
Ms Sarah Borg and Ms Elizabeth Grech provided a breakdown of the financial aspect of the project. A revised and updated expenditure report was presented together with information on the financial claim periods.
Dr Ing. Paul Refalo presented the Micro WatTs website and Facebook pages. He also discussed the outreach activities carried out, mainly, the Hello Future seminar and the future activities of the group. Some of the preliminary research performed in the MicroWatTs project will be presented at the 2019 European Materials Research Society spring meeting.
Dr Ing. Rizzo suggested the presentation of the MicroWatTs project in the annual MCAST water seminar which will take place in June 2019. The public will have an opportunity to meet the researchers and gain a better insight into the project.
Dr Alessandro Di Mauro and Mr Clayton Farrugia from CNR and UM respectively presented the results obtained so far from their research into making efficient photocatalytic surfaces. Dr Maria Antonietta Buccheri from UniCT presented her findings on the antibacterial properties of the surfaces synthesised. Econetique’s Ing Ryan Xuereb unveiled the design for the prototype solar photocatalytic greywater reactor. The design and specifications of the unit were then discussed in detail and avenues for optimisation were proposed.
