On the 14th of December 2018 the MicroWatTs team was invited to discuss the project at the Hello Future Seminar organised by the University Engineering Students’ Association (UESA). Sustainability and renewable energy in Malta were the topics discussed during the seminar.
Dr Ing. Paul Refalo discussed the inception of the project, its aims and the benefits that will be reaped from the technology being studied and implemented during the project. He also discussed the opportunity for students to be part of the project whilst being able to obtain a Masters degree. Mr Clayton Farrugia gave a brief description of the photocatalytic process and presented some of the results obtained from the tests carried out on the photocatalytic surfaces. Ing Ryan Xuereb concluded the presentation session. He described the increase in demand for electrical power in Malta and how renewable energy will be vital in keeping up with the demand whilst safeguarding the environment.
