The fourth steering committee meeting took place at the Museo Diocesano in Catania on 6th May 2019. The meeting, the second one held in Catania, was hosted by Università degli Studi di Catania (UniCT).
Prof Maurice Grech (University of Malta, UM) opened the meeting and went on to discuss the progress made and the tasks which were successfully completed. He went on to highlight the coming tasks especially the stability testing of the photocatalytic materials via ageing tests.
Dr Paul Refalo (UM) and Dr Alessandro Di Mauro (CNR) revealed the dissemination plan for the project. All project partners would be actively involved in the writing of the articles which will rely heavily on the different interdisciplinary inputs.
Dr Maria Antonietta Buccheri (UniCT) and Mr Charles Zahra (MCAST) presented results showing the antibacterial properties of the photocatalytic surfaces produced by CNR and UM respectively. The surfaces all showed excellent antibacterial activities, which were retained after several testing cycles.
Ing Ryan Xuereb (Econetique) discussed the progress in the design and manufacture of the prototype solar grey water reactors. By using these prototypes, information on how to produce cost effective household solutions for grey water reclamation will be obtained.
Ms Sarah Borg (UM) presented the financial and administrative aspects of the project. She provided guidance in several areas related to the funds of the project.
