On the 10th of June 2019, Dr.Ing. Stephen Abela delivered a presentation at a seminar titled ‘Green Skills Competencies in the Construction industry’.

This initiative is co-funded by the Erasmus + Programme that the Gozo Business Chamber is developing along with ten other European partners. The main objective of the project is to boost the green skills of trainers active within the construction industry (BuS.Trainers).

In this presentation Dr. Abela discussed the role that traditional, contemporary and modern materials play in rendering buildings better, more functional, and greener. Emphasis was made on traditional and innovative active materials used in buildings. Here particular reference was made to the potential benefits that can be reaped from the development of a Micro waste water treatment unit being designed and tested through MicrowatTS, a 2.5M Euro project funded by the Italia-Malta Interreg programme and lead by the University of Malta.
