The 37th Spring Meeting of the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) was held from May 27 to 31, 2019, in Nice, France. The scientific program highlighted the latest advances in materials research at an international level, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary research in both fundamental and applied areas.

Micro WatTS, a project co-financed by INTERREG V. A. Italia-Malta financed the symposium H entitled: ‘Materials for applications in photocatalysis and photoconversion’. More than 70 speakers participated and more than 150 posters were exposed at the symposium. In addition, Dr.Alessandro Di Mauro, CNR IMM, one of the project partners, took part at the conference as invited speaker, with a presentation entitled: ‘ZnO-based nanomaterials in polymeric composites for applications in photocatalysis’. He also presented a poster entitled: ‘New hybrid materials for water treatment’, about materials synthesized by the University of Malta and the CNR IMM in Catania
